PVC LOOP: Practical steps towards more circular, lower-carbon flexible PVC

Reducing the environmental impact of flexible PVC involves choices throughout its life cycle: how raw materials are produced, how usable materials are kept in use and what happens to products at the end of their service life.

Extruflex’s PVC LOOP programme brings together three complementary solutions to address these opportunities.

Decarbonise — Low-Carbon PVC

Our Low-Carbon PVC is made with PVC resin produced using renewable energy. Resin represents approximately two-thirds of the raw materials used in our products. Reducing the footprint of this key component therefore contributes to lowering the carbon footprint of the finished product.

This solution forms part of our wider approach to reducing emissions across the value chain, alongside supplier engagement and improvements to our manufacturing operations.

Extend — Second-Life PVC Products

Quality PVC materials that fall outside our standard commercial specifications can still create value in suitable applications.

Through PVC LOOP, we reuse production offcuts internally to manufacture non-standard products and make shorter-than-standard products available for other applications. Matching these materials with suitable uses helps keep usable PVC in circulation rather than becoming waste.

Recover — PVC Take-Back & Material Recovery Programme

PVC LOOP also provides a route for eligible customer PVC offcuts and end-of-life products to be collected, sorted and directed towards the most suitable recovery option.

Depending on their condition, these materials can be reused in our production or recovered by specialised recycling partners. Eligibility and the recovery route depend on the material concerned, so participation should be discussed with your Extruflex representative.
